Planning & Zoning
The Planning Department is responsible for determining the best way to use the city’s land and resources. The department does this through community engagement, planning the construction of new public housing or buildings, and suggest zoning regulation for private property.
The Planning Department also holds public meetings with government officials, land developers, special interest groups, and the general public to process applications and develop or address issues regarding city land use. They may hear proposals and recommend denial, approval or conditional approval, as well as make changes as necessary.
